Like the other brief mortals of Sanctuary, in Diablo 4 we must play the cards we are dealt as best we can. It may feel ruthless, but it also serves to give your choices meaning. For every skill you pick, there are, perhaps, a dozen that you have had to pass up. This sense of fearful exploration melds seamlessly with the game’s mechanics, doubling down on this theme of mortal limitations. Rather, you step into the role of a character who is, despite their role as protagonist, undeniably limited and mortal. The game’s plot, art style, and mechanics all skillfully converge on a single point: the conflict between dark and light, and the poor humans who get caught up in the cosmic mess. ![]() ![]() Ego is a massive driver and will be the only way Macs can get out of their gaming doldrums.Diablo 4’s commitment to the gothic is far more than purely superficial. We can do it if developers don’t develop for the money but develop to showcase their talent. We need games designed specifically for Macs that makes people want to game on Macs that leave Windows PCs and gaming consoles in the dust. We don’t need AAA titles if this is their approach. We’ve been screwed by idiot developers who just treat us as a third class citizen in gaming. Then compare that to the iOS version of Eve Echoes and you start to get the picture that it’s not Mac hardware that’s the problem. It’s a Windows game running on Linux software and it will always have a performance hit.Ĭompare the old version of Eve Online to the current Metal based version and the difference is night and day. There’s literally NOTHING Mac in this approach. The reason that Macs suck for gaming is 100% on the developers who take the crappy approach of taking a Windows game and wrapping it in Cider and calling it a Mac game. The reality is that Macs are one of the best platforms for gaming and Metal3 is the reason. ![]()
